Can I marry a Japanese woman?
How many stories have we heard that people from conservative countries come to the US, fall in love, and then back out at the last moment just to make their families back home happy? Many families may approve of their kids studying abroad but when it comes to marriage they want to marry someone ‘of their own kind’. This is generally true about Japan too though many families are now more open-minded about it. It is still extremely difficult for inter-racial couples to make a good life in Japan unless they can live in a large city like Tokyo or Osaka. They are not only discriminated by elders, but mixed children are openly discriminated and harassed by their peers. Such couples, if they decide to leave Japan, have very little hope of being accepted in Japan.
