Decline of Japanese culture

I have been reading Takao Aoyama’s articles on the destruction of Japanese culture, and I just want to say I agree totally. I am not Japanese, I am an Indian living in Australia and only 18, but I still agree. It’s just sad that no one really cares, and that these articles will achieve nothing in the long run. It looks like Japanese culture is doomed to destruction by American pop culture. And the young Japanese are totally to blame - they don’t care at all about their culture, and it’s just disgusting. I really feel passionately about this issue and I’m really glad that a Japanese person feels the same way.

I have so many Japanese friends but I could never figure out why they were so obsessed with karaoke.  I have gone dozens of time to karaoke bars in Tokyo and Osaka and have embarrassed myself.  Maybe it is not the combination of Japan and alcohol but the Japanese desire to do something in public without being judged (something the Japanese are so reluctant to do in everyday).  Surprisingly, though, many Japanese sing rather well.
